Andrew Figueroa – DJ Drew

I am a native Texan, born and raised. Born as an 80’s baby and living as a 90’s kid, I enjoyed growing up with horror movies, loud music and the freedom to be gone all day.  I played saxophone in band during high school and started developing my passion for music. I quickly found that college wasn’t for me, and slowly I began my path to becoming a career DJ. Through trials and lessons, I found myself on the way God had made for me.  My wife and I married in 2007, with twin boys in 2009, followed by a little girl in 2011. Building a family and building my DJ business happened simultaneously as I became a full time DJ and started running my own company in 2012.

Having a business is not for the faint of heart. I put my blood, sweat, and tears into what I do, and I receive so much fulfillment from it.  There are highs and lows with any job, and this career is no exception.  Some of the greatest joys are of seeing two people commit themselves to each other and having an amazing celebration. The time period after covid has been the hardest and I wasn’t sure if I would be able to continue in my passion.  Even then, God made a way when there did not seem to be one, and I am blessed to be able to continue on this adventure of being a DJ.

How would you describe your DJ personality?

I would describe my DJ personality as fun, outgoing, and adaptable.

Why did you become a DJ?
I initially became a DJ to show cliques in high-school that music can bring everyone together.  I continue to be a DJ because I still enjoy seeing how music is a great binder for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Why do you like performing at wedding dances?

I like seeing music bring people together while creating such priceless memories at weddings.

What is your favorite party song?

My favorite song is Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

What sets you apart from other DJs, or what are your specialties?

There are a couple of things that I believe set me apart from an average DJ.  One is my ability to cater to any crowd that I am put into and create an epic event.  I also like to help out whenever and wherever I can, not allowing my job title to limit me to only what I was hired to do.

What is your #1 goal as a DJ?

My priority as a DJ is to have an epic event with most guests on the dance floor.  If I can get over 85% of people dancing most of the night, to me that is a great success.

If you were not a DJ, what would you be doing instead?

If I could not be a DJ, I would still be in the tech and audio world working with events or hotel audio and visuals.

What was the first concert you attended?

My first concert was Backstreet Boys & NSYNC at Reunion Arena during high school.

When you're alone in your car, what music can we find coming from your speakers?

In my free time, I enjoy listening to the music of my youth, 90’s hits and rock.

If you won the lottery, what would you do with the money?

If I won the lottery, I would retire at Golden Oak Estates and go to Disney World every day.

If you had to watch one movie on repeat, what would that movie be?

Fast and Furious
